Video Game Music

I've been gone for a while, but I'm back with another daily Video Game theme. This theme is from Final Fantasy X and the greatest Final Fantasy minigame ever: Blitzball!

Blitzball is complicated to explain, so bare with me. Blitzball is played underwater in a large sphere pool suspended in the air. It features six-man teams that combines the physicality of rugby and soccer kicks for scoring and the hand passes of water polo.

I'll let the video below explain it even better.

Enjoy the music and feel free to comment.

The Last of Us

Naughty Dog just keeps on coming with the Video Game hits: Crash Bandicoot, Jax and Daxter, Uncharted, and now The Last of Us. The Last of Us was revealed on December 10, 2011 during the Spike TV Video Game Awards.

The Last of Us is an upcoming post-apocalyptic third person survival action-adventure game. The game has no release date at the moment, and the only things we really know is a portion of the plot, setting, and characters.

The game is going to be set in post-apocalyptic Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and branch out into other areas that have yet to be announced. It is said that survival will most likely involve killing and scavenging.

The main characters of the game include Joel, the "ruthless" survivor played by Troy Baker and 14 year old Ellie voiced by Ashley Johnson. On an interesting note, if you pay attention to the trailer, Ellie bares a striking resemblance to Ellen Page, or Juno to some! Even when you hear her voice, if you pay close to attention, she even sounds like Ellen Page a little bit. You can be the judge when you view the trailer. Nonetheless, Ellie is mature and quite wise for her age, but has no memory of the world before the Apocalypse took place.

I forget how I stumbled upon this game, but when I saw the trailer, I was extremely impressed. In such a short amount of time, the graphics, the action, the dialogue, and the slow, sudden buildup got me hooked. While the whole Zombie Apocalypse concept has been done to death, this game seems to be a tad more advanced than what most Zombie Apocalypses are. Don't believe me? Check out the trailer and see for yourself!

Best Final Fantasy Game...

Final Fantasy is without question one of the biggest game franchises in known history. But out of all the games that have been released, which Final Fantasy game really is the best? Well, a number of people will say that Final Fantasy VII is the greatest game ever made in history. Well, I beg to differ. In my opinion, here is the greatest Final Fantasy game to date:

Final Fantasy X came out in 2000 on the PS2, the next gen console and turn heads without a doubt.

What sets this game above the rest has to be the story. The gameplay introduced the turn base style and the new leveling system the Sphere Grid making leveling a lot of fun. Not to mention, they had the GREATEST Mini-Game in Final Fantasy History.....Blitzball!

But back to the story. What people don't know about this story is that it's not convoluted at all. Final Fantasy VII's story started strong, but ended up all over the place. If Final Fantasy XIII's story wasn't so complicated, I'd have that game here, but X made it simple. When the game split into different sub-plots, it didn't stray away from the main focal point of the game: to stop Sin.

Everything tied back to the main story: things like Seymour, the Aeons, the relationship that built among Tidus and Yuna and the others. You didn't get the sense that you were lost among the story.

Character development is also key because every character was introduced in their own way. Their personalities were so different. Tidus was the carefree, confident soul, Yuna was the hopeful one, Rikku was the playful one, Auron was the slient killer, Wakka was cocky and funny, if i were to compare a personality to Lulu, it would have to be Lightning, and Ronso was the bodygaurd that was solid as a rock. Most Final Fantasy games, you're gonna find that people some time are the same, but in X, these guys were completely different, yet when they came together, they knew what they had to do. You felt like you could really relate to these characters which also adds to how good they were developed.

And then, it all came full circle when Sin was revealed to be Tidus' father and the ending which saw Tidus disappear and leave Yuna.

Beginning to end, it's the greatest Final Fantasy game I've ever played. Well, that is until I finish Final Fantasy XIII-2 and play Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Feel free to comment.

The most underrated fighting game in my opinion...

I've had a Sega Dreamcast for as long as I can remember and I've played games like Tekken, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. But some of the most fun I've had playing a fighting game came right here. The Power Stone Franchise is one of, if not, the most underrated fighting games.

This was the first go anywhere gameplay game where you didn't have to fight across from somebody the whole time. You explored the environment and used it to your advantage. But here's the kicker: you would collect 3 stones and transform into a super powered monster with these unique abilities and finish your opponent off with Hyper Combos. Sure there isn't really much of a story, but the gameplay more than makes up for it. The characters are colorful, and the action is nonstop.

Take a look for yourselves:

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance...

The Kingdom Hearts Franchise has quietly amassed a great deal of a fanbase since its inception in 2002. Kingdom Hearts is an exceptional brilliant game with great character development, a great plot (thought a bit convoluted), complimented with sensational gameplay. But with more and more people honking for Kingdom Hearts 3, all eyes are on this game:

Ever since Kingdom Hearts 2 in 2006, fans (including me) have been chomping at the bit for news on King Hearts 3, but instead there's a whole mess of sub-games. I don't really mind this because it helps tie up some loose ends like the time Roxas spent before he joined The Organization, where Riku was when he was separated from Sora, past Keyblade weilders, and some other things.

This game is about Sora and Riku taking the Mark of Mastery of Exam so they can become strong enough to tackle the returning Master Xehanort. Also, most of the story will be told through Master Xehanort's point of view. Most of the story is explained in this interview:

This game for me is a highly anticipated game and I for one am ecstatic for it to come out. Many truths will be revealed about Sora and Co. and everything will lead right into Kingdom Hearts 3. Below is the trailer for Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. It's set to be released in Japan on March 29 while Europe and The United States will have to wait until Summer of 2012.

Nova Terra

Here it is! My game story idea. I've been working on this for a week now. I have a full plot, characters, and some dialogue. But I won't post it right away, but here's a quick synopsis of the game at the moment. Feedback is welcome!

Nova Terra

It's the year 3000 and the world of Nova Terra is at War. The Goddess Kiara has been murdered and the citizens of Nova Terra find themselves at War against a dangerous entity.

Eve Hale is the captain of the Freelance Corps, Alpha Team fighting the war against The Order, a group of people led by Noah Aster with special abilities whose sole purpose is to rule the world. But there's a higher power pulling the strings behind the scenes that has yet to reveal herself. Little does Eve Hale know that the key to defeating The Order is within her.

Years before Nova Terra was plunged into War, the dying Goddess Kiara transferred her spirit and powers into a chosen woman; Eve Hale. She shows Eve visions of the future and how it is only going to get worse if she doesn't stop it. The Order is too strong to fight by herself, but within The Paradox Star System, there are worlds other than Nova Terra that harbor people with special abilities.

Eve Hale now has to save the world, trust a group of strangers and take down the biggest threat this world has ever seen, or risk losing the entire Star System to Death and Despair. But as Eve journeys closer and closer, she begins to unravel truths that not even she is ready for.

Coming Soon!

I was talking about my passion for Video Games and to break into the business. I am currently working on a project of mine just in case a little luck falls my way. I have a plot set up with characters, setting, and some dialogue. I'll post them each day by day. I'll start with the plot which will be up later on tonight. So stay on the lookout for that!

My Top 10!

Everybody's gotta have a Top 10, and I've played A LOT of games over my lifetime. I based this list on my favorite games. Games that I've played, completed, and enjoyed every minute of it. Here's my Top 10. Feel free to comment or criticize.

1) Kingdom Hearts (PS2)
2) Uncharted 2 (PS3)
3) Final Fantasy X (PS2)
4) Uncharted 3 (PS3)
5) Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Sega Dreamcast)
6) Goldeneye 007 (N64)
7) Final Fantasy IX (PS1)
8) Battlefield 2: Bad Company (PS3)
9) Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
10) Sonic Adventure (Sega Dreamcast)

This list is sure to change as time goes on, but as of today, these are my favorites.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII Release Date....?

One of the most anticipated games among a popular fanbase may finally be on the verge of a release date. Final Fantasy Versus XIII was first announced in 2006 at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo.) But the people behind the scenes have been very hush-hush about it since then. Releasing little to no information every year. Not to mention, Director Tetsuya Nomura has been working on several Kingdom Hearts titles.

The link below shows a possible release date for this game:

http://www.vgreleases.com/ps3/releasedate-21805.aspx

This video is a 6 minute trailer that shows what the game has to offer. The command menu and gameplay are the same as Kingdom Hearts and it's said that this game is said to take place in an alternate universe to that of Final Fantasy XIII. The graphics are absolutely stunning to be quite honest. I've been waiting for this game since its announcement and it looks as if it will not disappoint.
